Well, hey there! It has been quite a while now hasn't it! My last blog post was in April, and I believe I was outlining a new weekly schedule for posting, which needless to say did not quite go as planned. So what happened? Well, a lot! Everything just got SO busy, I mean like real crazy. And I completely fell off the wagon when it came to blogging regularly. It's a very difficult thing to keep up with, and a lot of work started to coincide with it, making it darn near impossible. But I hope to get back to doing this more often! I can't really commit to any kind of schedule at the moment, but definitely expect slightly more regular posts from now on.
So, some pretty cool stuff happened in the blog's absence! For one, I now have some merch! You can check out all the designs on my Store page, or at shop.spreadshirt.com/tobiaslamontagne-store/. They are a combination of original photography and digital art. There are also a number of items from my company Zap!Film, LLC.
And! My short film The Book Club was in the PBS Online Film Festival! Which is so so cool and everyone was so supportive and kind. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me!
On the subject of movies, I am currently in the process of writing a script for a new short film! It will be my first time back with an original piece since The Book Club, and the first time around with Zap!Film. It's very early days at the moment and so I don't want to say much, but it will be a very new direction for me, and hopefully it will be the beginning of something bigger. The film is to be titled "FRAcTURED" and will debut hopefully in early 2020.
Which brings me to, Music! My friend and I just released a new album, it's the first of two self-
titled collections. The second of which is coming soon. It was a ton of work and fun to make, playing only drums, and being able to focus entirely on making them as good as possible for each song was a wonderful and challenging experience. Check it out on BandCamp here, or SoundCloud here.
I am also currently in the process of writing a collection of new songs from the same perspective as Burning Out. That song definitely felt like a step in the right direction for me, but at the same time I could tell there was a story there that should be told. Yes partly of myself, but of many others as
well. I'm aiming to do a fundraiser for The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a cause I'm very passionate about, alongside the release of the EP which I'm hoping to be spring of next year. I'm looking forward to exploring this story further, and sharing new music with everyone, the EP will be titled "behind the wall" it will tell a difficult story of mental health and depression in the eyes of someone struggling. But it's something very real and present in life, and I hope the music will shed some light on what so many go through every day.
That's about it! Thank you for reading! As I said at the beginning, hopefully these posts will become a lot more regular again, so be sure to sign-up for the newsletter below if you're interested in reading more.
Have a great weekend, stay safe, and be kind <3
